Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was present on Saturday to witness the placement of the last panel on the Museum of the Future’s façade, which marks the start of the final phase of construction of the facility located near Emirates Tower.

“Our goal is not to merely build engineering icons. Rather, it is to inspire mankind to build a better future,” said Sheikh Mohammed.

“Dubai continues to build and the UAE continues on its path of achievements. Progress favours those who know what they want.”

The façade of the complex includes 1,024 panels built using robotic technology, with the museum serving as an incubator for futuristic innovation and design.

The 30,000-square-meter and 77-metre tall museum is encased in stainless steel and covered with Arabic calligraphy.

Upon completion, it will feature seven floors of exhibition spaces and an immersive theatre too.

Alongside Sheikh Mohammed at the event on Saturday, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dubai Future Foundation, said: “Today we stand before one of the most innovative buildings in the world. A testament to Dubai and the UAE’s leadership in creative design, engineering, and architectural uniqueness.”

“Our goal is to adopt new models for future governments by bringing about a comprehensive change in the system of governments, relying on our young national cadres who are able to take responsibility and turn challenges into opportunities,” added Sheikh Hamdan.

In January, it was announced that a new district combining the key commercial and financial hubs in Dubai would be created to support the “new economy” taking shape in Dubai.

The ‘Dubai Future District’ will include the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), Emirates Towers and Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) – all directly connected via a bridge ‘inspired’ by the Museum of the Future.

At the time, Sheikh Mohammed also announced the launch of a Dhs1bn fund to support new economy companies which will operate out of Dubai Future District.
