Rainfall accompanied by lightning hit parts of the UAE on Sunday night and Monday morning, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said.

Videos posted on social media showed dark clouds and streaks of lightning in Abu Dhabi and Sih Shuaib.

The NCM also warned road users to be cautious, as cloud formation, along with rainfall and heavy winds could reduce visibility to less than 2,000 metres.

Overall, the weather will remain cloudy, with rainfall over scattered areas.

Light rain was reported over Al Bateen Airport, Sharjah and Jebel Ali in the morning hours on Monday.

Temperatures will range between 23 degrees celsius to 39 degrees in the coastal areas, 23 degrees and 41 degrees in the internal areas, and 18 degrees to 28 degrees in the mountains.

Looking ahead, the NCM predicted similar cloudy weather conditions for the rest of the week, although temperatures are forecast to decrease on Wednesday.
