Heavy rains accompanied by hail were witnessed in parts of the UAE on Tuesday morning, the country’s National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) announced.

While Al Bataeh in Sharjah saw heavy rains with hail, Sharjah airport, Al Dhaid and Al Khawaneej in Dubai also experienced heavy rain on Tuesday.

Moderate showers were also recorded in parts of Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain, the NCM said.

The NCM warned earlier this week that an area of low pressure in the Red Sea will bring rain clouds of “varying intensity” over parts of the country over the next few days.

The country will witness rains and thunderstorms, with some mountainous areas already seeing flooding.

In its daily bulletin for Tuesday, the NCM said that the weather will be cloudy, with some convective rainy clouds over the eastern and northern parts of the country.

It also cautioned that light to moderate winds in general along with clouds could lead to “blowing dust” over the exposed areas.

The sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Oman Sea, the NCM added.
