Emirates Group’s east coast resort to unveil new rooms and improved connectivity

Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort will complete its 218-room renovation programme in October.

The Dhs25 million revamp, which began last year, sees improved room designs from Amani Al Lauz, reflecting the property’s beach-front ambience, and other features such as Bluetooth connectivity to the flatscreen TV and wireless high-speed internet.

Additional touches include a new signature Le Méridien Bed, extra sofa beds and Bose music systems in the Royal Club rooms.

Al Lauz, VP Facilities interior design & Maintenance, Emirates Airlines, has worked closely with the Starwood design team to create rooms that are functional and tasteful. “Fujairah is renowned for its rich, diverse and unspoiled natural beauty which includes waterfalls, oases and long beaches,” she said. “This is reflected in the carpet design, the art on the walls and even the soft fabric used in the upholstery, which all combined to give the room a relaxing look and feel.”

The resort, owned by the Emirates Group, lies between the Hajjar mountains and Indian Ocean, and has been popular with overseas holidaymakers and UAE residents on weekend breaks since it opened in 2002. But 12 years on, amid rising competition, the renovations are designed to appeal to a new generation of travellers as well as existing guests.

On site are nine restaurants and bars, Spa Al Aqah, a professional dive center and range of leisure facilities including a beach volleyball court and a mini-golf course. Its 600-person ballroom, three meeting rooms and business services means it also appeals to executives looking to combine work and rest.
