UAE petrol station and convenience store operator ADNOC Distribution has announced plans to open its first locations in Dubai and Saudi Arabia.

The new stations are among 13 the company plans to open this year after raising $851m in its December listing of a 10 per cent stake on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

They include three in Dubai, nine in Abu Dhabi, Ajman and Fujairah and at least one in Saudi Arabia under a franchise deal.

Three major extensions are also planned for existing stations in Abu Dhabi.

“Improving service, choice and convenience for our customers is our top priority for 2018, as we transform ADNOC Distribution into a more commercially minded and performance-driven company,” said ADNOC Distribution’s acting CEO Saeed Mubarak Al Rashdi.

“This year we will deliver new stations quicker and at a lower cost while enhancing our customers’ experience and maintaining our 100 per cent focus on health and safety.”

On top of the new stations, ADNOC said its capital expenditure per site had been reduced in 2018 and would be 40 per cent lower at some future locations due to new engineering.

The new Abu Dhabi, Ajman and Fujairah stations will be in Al Ragayeb, MBZ Road – 3, MBZ Road – 2, New Baniyas Club, Madinat Al Mafraq, Al Falah South, Al Surrah, Tamouh and Al Hulaifat.

Officer’s City, Shahama and Khalifa City A are the locations of the three extensions in Abu Dhabi.

ADNOC said its locations in Dubai and Saudi Arabia would be announced in due course.

The company had 67 per cent market share by the number of retail fuel stations in the UAE at the end of September 2017, with a total of 360 locations.
