UAE weather: Rains expected with low visibility warning

Strong winds, reaching speeds of up to 60km/hr in the coastal and mountainous areas, are forecast in the country

Rains are expected in parts of the UAE on Sunday, with the weather department warning of poor visibility due to strong winds and cloudy conditions.

The weather will remain hazy and cloudy with “rainfall of different intensities over scattered areas” accompanied by thunder at times, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said in its daily bulletin.

Strong winds, reaching speeds of up to 60km/hr in the coastal and mountainous areas, along with the suspension of dust and blowing sand, will cause poor horizontal visibility, it added.

Temperatures have risen and will vary between 16 degrees celsius to 32 degrees in the coastal areas, between 15 degrees and 34 degrees in the internal areas and 8 degrees to 22 degrees in the mountains.

The seas will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea, the NCM added.

On Monday, the weather will again remain cloudy with the possibility of rainfall along with a “significant drop in temperatures”, the NCM predicted.

Strong winds will continue, with increased sands and dust set to reduce visibility.

With the windy conditions will continue into Tuesday, the country will also see increased humidity at night over some internal areas, the NCM forecast.
