The fine for not giving way to emergency vehicles will be tripled to Dhs3,000 starting July 1, the UAE’s interior ministry has said.
Violators will also have their vehicles confiscated for 30 days and will receive six black points.
Previously, the penalty for the offence stood at Dhs1,000 and six black points.
The ministry said monitoring of the roads will take place via smart systems and cameras installed on emergency vehicles.
The law extends to emergency vehicles as well as ambulances, police and official convoy vehicles.
”The resolution aims to promote safer roads environment, reach highest levels of traffic safety, monitor road safety, reduce the number of traffic accidents fatalities,” the ministry said.
