Passengers arriving into the UAE or travelling outside of it must declare their possessions, in cash or kind, should they surpass Dhs60,000 in value, or an equivalent amount in any other currency.

The possessions, that could be in the form of currencies, negotiable monetary instruments, precious metals or stones, must be declared to customs officers, according to local news outlets.

Travellers must adhere to prescribed custom procedures to ensure safe travel, according to the Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security in the UAE.

There is no cash limit for inbound as well as outbound travellers but any amount topping Dhs60,000 must be declared.

Possessions, including cash and other precious items, carried by passengers below the age of 18, will be added to the limit of their guardians.

The authority launched the Afseh app to enable travellers to declare their valuables, which will facilitate a safe journey into and from the country.
