UAE reports Covid-19 recovery rate of 85.8%

The government said on Saturday that another 460 individuals had recovered from the virus taking the overall number of recoveries up to 48,917

The UAE government reported 289 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, July 18.

The total number of individuals infected with the virus now stands at 56,711.

The new cases were detected following over 46,000 tests conducted to screen for the virus over the preceding 24 hours.

The country’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) also said that another 469 patients had recovered from the virus.

Therefore, 48,917 individuals have now recovered from the virus.

The ministry tweeted to confirm that the recovery rate from the virus stands at 85.8 per cent of the total infections.

On Saturday, there was one death too reported as a result of the virus, as a result of complications arising from the illness.

The total death toll in the UAE now stands at 338.

On July 16, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), became the world’s first individual to be the subject of a Phase III inactivated vaccine trial for Covid-19.

Health authorities in the UAE recently issued a permit for up to 15,000 volunteers to take part in the trials.
