UAE reports 1,312 Covid-19 cases; Dubai issues guidelines for social interactions

The Ministry of Health and Prevention confirmed that there were also 1,500 new recoveries

The UAE reported on Thursday, October 29, that it had detected 1,312 new Covid-19 cases over the preceding 24 hours.

The cases were identified following 130,573 tests administered to screen for the virus.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases since the start of the outbreak in the country stands at 130,336.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention said on Thursday that there were also 1,500 new recoveries, bringing the overall number of recoveries in the country up to 126,147.

However, the ministry also noted that there were 3 additional deaths as a result of the virus, raising the total count of fatalities in the country up to 488.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management announced precautionary measures for social gatherings and celebrations that must be observed during Halloween, Diwali and other upcoming festivities.

They reminded people to avoid crowded places, and to wear masks and maintain physical distancing when visiting public spaces.

It added that elderly people and those with chronic conditions, were advised not to attend social functions.

It also warned that individuals attending these gatherings, and establishments organising them, must adhere to all of its prescribed precautionary guidelines to avoid penalties.

Earlier this month, the authorities in Dubai permitted weddings and social events to resume under certain conditions. A maximum of 200 people are allowed in an event hall, with the duration of the event limited to four hours.
