UAE registers 382 Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths; country leads the world in testing per capita

The Minister of Health and Prevention in the UAE registered 382 new Covid-19 cases, as a result of 39,000 tests performed to screen for the infection.

The total number of cases has now reached 43,364.

The ministry also registered two deaths of different nationalities, who died due to complications, raising the death toll to 295.

However, the total number of patients who have now recovered tally 29,537 with 676 additional recoveries.

With an average of 40,000 Covid-19 tests performed daily, more than three million tests were conducted by UAE health authorities to date, Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention said.

“As of today, UAE ranks first on global scale of Covid-19 testing per capita,” Al Owais added.

Restrictions have further eased off across the country, as people return to their workplaces and normalcy resumes. Starting June 18, entry to shopping centers, retail shops and sport facilities will be relaxed.

Meanwhile, the ministry also reminded the public to continue to follow the social and health guidelines, maintain a healthy lifestyle, eat well, quit smoking and seek regular medical advice in case of chronic diseases.

“Resuming business activities and the gradual return to the workplaces require that we all adhere to all precautionary health measures, including social distancing protocols and other health practices,” said Dr. Farida Al Hosani, UAE health Sector spokesperson.
