The UAE has retained its top spot as the most preferred country by Arab Youths for the 12th consecutive year. The nation was named the most desirable to live in by the Arab Youth Survey.

The results of the survey comprise responses from 3,600 young people aged between 18 and 24 living in 53 cities across 18 different countries spread in the Middle East and North Africa.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai commended the country’s achievement in retaining its spot as the most preferred destination for young Arabs. He said the UAE will continue to be open and inviting to all Arabs and will work to help them achieve their dreams. He added, “Our aspirations are for the entire region to rise to become a land for realising dreams and creating a great civilization.”

Arab Youth Survey results

The survey showed that almost one in four Arab youth (24 per cent) named the UAE as their top choice for where they would most like to live. It was followed by the US (19 per cent), Canada (19 per cent), Qatar (14 per cent) and the UK (13 per cent).

Qatar appeared in the top five preferred countries for the first time in eight years, which follows from its successful hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The US was also ranked as the country that had the most influence on the demographic.

The Arab Youth Survey by Asda’a is the largest study of its kind that looks at the youth demographic in Arab countries.

The annual survey was carried out by Asda’a BCW, a PR agency that worked with interviewers of Sixth Factor Consulting, a leading research company, to conduct the face-to-face interviews.
