Federal government employees in the UAE found flouting Covid-19 rules at their workplace will receive a three-day salary cut, authorities have confirmed.

The Federal Authority for Human Resources (FAHR) issued the directive, informing employees across all federal government entities to adhere to safety measures and instructions put in place to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, local media have reported.

Fines will be imposed on employees found shaking hands, not wearing a face mask, failing to carry out a PCR test when required, and failing to declare their health status to employers should Covid-like symptoms manifest, among others.

“Hefty penalties will be imposed on those breaking the Covid-19 rules at workplace,” authorities confirmed.

The federal HR authority, in the circular, urged federal authorities and ministries to raise the awareness levels among employees. It also referred to the 12 workplace rules that must be followed.

The UAE reported 777 new Covid-19 infections on September 14, scaling the overall count to 80,266. The Covid-19-related death toll has now reached 399.
