UAE Announces Eid Al Adha Holidays For Private, Public Sectors

Public sector workers will be off from Oct 3-6, while private sector employees will receive holidays from Oct 3-5.

The UAE has announced a four-day holiday for public sector workers on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, including the weekend, state news agency WAM reported.

The Eid Al Adha holidays for government employees will begin on Friday, October 3 and will end on Monday, October 6. Work will resume on Tuesday, October 7.

The announcement was made through a circular issued by Hussein Ibrahim Al Hammadi, minister of Education and director-general of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

Meanwhile, private sector employees will receive three days, including the weekend, from Friday, October 3, to Sunday, October 5, to celebrate Eid Al Adha, according to a circular issued by the UAE’s labour minister Saqr Gobash. Companies will resume on Monday, October 6, the circular stated.

Shopping malls in Dubai will extend their working hours but will not be open for 24 hours during the Eid holidays.

Retail units at the major malls will be open only till 1.00 am on the weekdays and till 2.00 am on weekends. Cafes and restaurants at major malls such as Deira City Centre, Mirdif City Centre, Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Festival City will be open till 2.00 am on weekdays and 3am on weekends.
