He founded Aramex in 1982, taking the company public on Nasdaq in 1997. He was also the founding investor of Maktoob, which was acquired by Yahoo. In 2014, he set up Wamda Capital, one of the region’s leading venture capital firms which invests in promising high growth technology businesses. The company invests in both growth and seed stages, taking portfolio companies through successive rounds of financing through to exit. Wamda’s latest investment was in Skillbee, a startup that helps migrant workers get jobs.
