Thunderstorms, cloudy weather forecast in the UAE this week

Cloudy weather conditions are expected to persist in the United Arab Emirates with thunderstorms also forecast in parts of the country later this week.

In its daily bulletin, the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology confirmed that cloud activity will increase over the southern areas of the country on Monday. Light rainfall is also expected in certain areas.

Light to moderate winds are also anticipated while the sea will be rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea, NCMS warned.

Temperatures will range between 10 degrees to 30 degrees across the country on Monday and will continue rising over the next two days.

Later in the week, parts of the country are forecast to witness thunderstorms, with the heaviest showers predicted for Thursday.

Winds could also turn strong at times causing dust/sand storms over exposed areas and leading to poor visibility on Wednesday, NCMS cautioned.

The UAE has witnessed an unusual spate of rainfall this year, with heavy showers even forcing schools to close for a day and causing temporary flight cancellations last month.
