The first phase of the initiative will be implemented in Dubai and will be gradually expanded to other emirates
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai processed over 62.24 million transactions last year
The agreement improves passenger traffic procedures for Emirates customers transferring to connecting flights as well as for those arriving in Dubai
It will accept residency-related requests and inquiries from companies and individuals, as well as citizens and residents seven days a week
The two entities will collaborate on special residency programmes including the Virtual Working programme, Golden Visas for investors and retirement visa too
Dubai witnessed an increase in passenger numbers since the emirate reopened to international tourists in July
Applicants will need to meet certain financial requirements in order to be eligible for the new visa

Holders of expired residency visas should renew them before exiting the country if they wish to return
A directive that went into effect on Wednesday had said all expats with UAE residency visas can enter the country without prior approvals
Residents who wish to return to the country are automatically approved to do so
Those arriving in Abu Dhabi will still be subjected to a mandatory Covid-19 PCR tests
Residents do “not need a Covid-19 test or Dubai government approval to leave Dubai”
