Passengers visiting Doha on leisure can now apply for their tourist visa through Qatar Airways’ website.
A one-month visa costs $55 per person and up to 10 days to process, rising to $120, and one week, for the fast-track option.
“The new system eases the process of applying for a tourist visa to Qatar for eligible passengers,” said a Qatar Airways spokesperson. “It also provides passengers with the convenience of tracking their visa application status online.”
Applicants need to have a confirmed ticket in and out of Doha on Qatar Airways as well as a hotel booking through Discover Qatar, the airline’s inbound holiday division.
Qatar is keen to attract more leisure travellers, as it gears up to host the 2022 World Cup, and invested in cultural attractions such as the Museum of Islamic Art.
But business travellers currently make up the largest travel segment to Doha and it is unclear whether the service will extend to business visas.
