Mall operator Majid Al Futtaim opened 36,000 square metres of retail, dining and entertainment space at its flagship Mall of the Emirates in Dubai on Monday.
The complex will feature 16 traditional cinema halls, one IMAX hall, two VOX Kids screens, one 4DX screen and four screens inside a luxury cinema experience called THEATRE by Rhodes.
The IMAX screen, featuring a new laser technology, is the biggest in the Middle East, according to Majid Al Futtaim.
The two Kids halls will screen "family-oriented" films and can also be booked by groups for special events.
Alongside the halls are party areas where catering can be organised for birthday parties or special gatherings.
Officials said a wide range of children's movies are available in the library to play upon booking. Prices are the same as regular rates.
The uber-luxury option within the VOX complex, THEATRE By Rhodes is an all-new concept created in partnership with Michelin star chef Gary Rhodes.
Majid Al Futtaim is hoping to take its new VOX concepts across several of its malls throughout the region.
Omnia Baharat, Dean & Deluca, Eat Greek Kouzina are also new restaurants located next to the cinema complex.
The overall Mall of the Emirates expansion project cost Dhs 1bn and also includes 1,300 new parking spaces and a new taxi arrival facility.
