Nokia XL On Sale In The UAE, Priced Dhs589

The smartphone is the premium offering within the affordable Nokia-X range.

Nokia XL, the premium smartphone within the new affordable Nokia X range, is now available for sale across the UAE.

Priced at Dhs589, the device, which runs on Android apps, includes a five-inch screen, a 5MP rear-facing autofocus camera with flash and a 2MP front-facing camera.

Based on the Nokia X Software Platform, it is powered by a 1Ghz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and includes 768MB of RAM. The dual-SIM phone comes in six colours including bright green, orange, cyan, yellow, black and white.

Nokia XL features Fastlane, a dynamic record of recent activity, HERE Maps and Nokia MixRadio for free music streaming and downloadable playlists. It also provides access to certain Microsoft services including free cloud storage using OneDrive.

“Today’s smartphone users demand handsets and services that can respond to their everyday lifestyle requirements and keep with up their social and entertainment needs,” said Vithesh Reddy, general manager Lower Gulf, Microsoft Mobile Devices.

“Consequently, mobile applications are an essential element for mobile users whose handsets are more than just a phone, they are a lifestyle accessory.”

The Nokia X family, launched during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this February, marks the company’s first attempt at linking the popular Android OS along with its Microsoft operating system.

Priced much below Nokia’s flagship Lumia range, the Nokia X phones – X, X+ and XL – all come in bright colours.

“Nokia X is more about harnessing smartphones at the mid-to low range price-point,” Ajey Mehta, vice president, Middle East at Nokia told Gulf Business earlier this year.

“So we are targeting all those consumers who are moving to smartdevices from feature phones. We hope they will stay with Nokia as part of Nokia X, get familiar with the Nokia and Microsoft services, get familiar with the tile user interface, and when they go to their better and bigger phone, we hope they will choose the Lumia,” he said.
