Neymar Jr has been bought by Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal from French champions Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazil forward was unveiled in Al Hilal’s kit and colours after the official announcement on Tuesday.

The 31-year old posted about his journey from Paris to Riyadh after the signing. “I am here in Saudi Arabia, I am Hilali,” the 31-year-old Neymar said in a video posted to Al Hilal’s social media accounts.

As one of the world’s best football players, Neymar had a remarkable run at PSG. His stint with the French club spanned six years which saw him appear in 173 games with 118 goals. He helped the club win 13 trophies, including five Ligue 1 titles, as well as reach the 2020 Champions League final.

“It is always difficult to say goodbye to an amazing player like Neymar, one of the best players in the world,” said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi in a statement from the French champions.

The striker had joined PSG for a world-record fee of EUR222m in 2017.

“I have heard a lot and learned that I am following a long list of Brazilian players who have played in Saudi Arabia over the years, so I believe it is the desired place,” he added.

Neymar’s signing follows that of other big international football names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Sadio Mane among others by various clubs in Saudi Arabia’s professional football league.
