City Centre Al Zahia, set to become the largest mall in the Northern Emirates, is on schedule to open in March 2021, developer Majid Al Futtaim Properties has confirmed.

Located in Sharjah, the mall – featuring 136,200 sqm of leasable space – was initially slated to open in 2020, but its launch was delayed due to the pandemic.

Majid Al Futtaim also confirmed that it has reached an agreement with Landmark and Azadea to bring the two groups’ brands to the mall.

Those include Zara, Bershka, Pull & Bear, and Virgin from Azadea Group as well as Centrepoint, Max, Emax, Steve Madden, Pablosky, and Ecco from Landmark Group.

So far 70 per cent of the mall has already been leased, with Majid Al Futtaim staples such as Carrefour, Yalla Bowling, Magic Planet and Vox Cinemas also taking space.

Along with social, theatre and sports hubs, the mall will also have professional and educational workspaces.

Everything will be centred around a grand plaza, offering access to indoor and outdoor restaurants, kids play areas, and an art zone.

“We aim to deliver satisfying personalised experiences that extend beyond transactional retail,” said Shireen El Khatib, CEO at Majid Al Futtaim — Shopping Malls business unit.

The wider Al Zahia development is part of the strategic partnership between Majid Al Futtaim Properties and Sharjah Asset Management.

Upon completion by 2023, it will host a total of 3,700 homes, a clubhouse with multiple amenities, and six themed parks.

The clubhouse will include two resort-style swimming pools, a multi-purpose hall, basketball and tennis courts, a signature cafe and restaurant, and Sharjah’s largest private park, Central Park.

Separate to the clubhouse facilities and Central Park are six themed parks, fitted with splash pads, fitness equipment, a couple open air theatres, interactive sculptures, sensory planting, rock climbing, tunnel trekking, murals, and art exhibitions.
