A new 170-room midscale Holiday Inn hotel is set to come up in Dubai’s Deira Islands in 2023, hotel operator InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced on Tuesday.

The hotel will feature guest rooms, a business centre, three meeting rooms (432 sqm in total) as well as a gymnasium and outdoor pool. It will also have two dining options.

IHG said it has signed a management agreement to develop the hotel as part of plans to increase its midscale offering in the Middle East.

The company currently operates 92 hotels across seven brands in the Middle East, including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Voco and Six Senses Hotels Resorts with a further 38 in the development pipeline due to open within the next three to five years.

Pascal Gauvin, managing director, India, Middle East and Africa, IHG said: “This is the sixth signing for our midscale portfolio in the Middle East this year.

“We are committed to accelerating our growth and diversify our offering to cater to the needs of varied guest profiles visiting the region.”

Deira Islands is a massive mixed-use waterfront development featuring almost six million sqft of retail space, 3,000 apartments, hotel rooms, a mall, night souk, a large amphitheatre and a marina.

The project, under development by Nakheel, comprises four man-made islands reclaimed from the Arabian Gulf.
