FORMER PROFESSIONAL TENNIS player Al-Khelaifi is a key figure in world sport. He led Qatar Sports Investment’s takeover of French club Paris Saint-Germain in 2011 and has since become the voice of the club on transfers. At the end of 2013, he was also appointed to run the newly spun-off operations of Al Jazeera Sport, rebranded beIN Sport, and is developing the group’s ambitions in sports entertainment. At the end of last year, Al-Khelaifi, whose other roles include president of the Qatar Tennis Federation and VP of Asia Tennis Federation for West Asia, was also linked with an $820 million bid for a 53 per cent stake in Turkish pay-TV platform Digiturk.
