MUCH HAS CHANGED in a year for OPEC secretary general El-Badri, with oil prices plummeting from comfortably above OPEC’s desired $100 per barrel level to under $50. This not being followed by an OPEC supply cut caught much of the world by surprise at the end of last year and with uncertain times ahead many will be wondering what else El-Badri and his cartel have in store. The secretary general is certain that the organisation will weather the latest storm, although some speculate he wouldn’t mind if US shale was blown away.
