The single mother, who has raised four children, is also chairwoman of NBK Capital and has been involved in all of the Kuwait Investment Authority’s (KIA) privatisation deals since 1994. During her time at NBK, Al Bahar has helped the bank achieve more than $86bn in assets, with a presence in 15 countries. She is also vice chair of Turkish Bank and a member of Kuwait’s Supreme Council of Planning and Development, among other high-level roles.
