GCC Covid-19 update: UAE reports 873 cases; Saudi confirms 2,509 infections

The death toll in the UAE stands at 227 while 26 people in Oman have succumbed to the virus

UAE
The Ministry of Health and Prevention has reported 873 new Covid-19 cases on May 19, as a result of 38,000 tests conducted to screen for the virus

The ministry also announced the death of three people due to Covid-19-related complications.

The death toll now stands at 227 and the number of infections tallies 25,063.

With 1,214 new recoveries, as many as 10,791 patients have recovered until now.

Saudi Arabia
The Ministry of Health took to Twitter to report 2.509 Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of infections to 59,854.

Riyadh reported 730 cases, followed by Jeddah (526) and Makkah (385).

The ministry also confirmed nine deaths, spiking the death toll to 329.

 

Kuwait
The Ministry of Health in Kuwait has confirmed that the Covid-19 claimed three additional lives in the last 24 hours, Kuwait News Agency reported.

The death toll now stands at 121.

An additional 1,073 also tested positive for the virus, raising the total number of infections to 16,764.

Oman
The Ministry of Health reported 292 additional Covid-19 cases in the sultanate, of whom 119 were Omanis and the rest were expatriates.

As many as 5,671 people in the sultanate have till now contracted the virus.

 

The ministry also confirmed the death of a 57-year-old resident, raising the death toll to 26.

Bahrain
As of May 19, 1pm, Bahrain has 4,410 active Covid-19 cases, of whom nine are in a critical condition.

Qatar
The Ministry of Public Health has registered 1,637 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

The total number of current active Covid-19 cases has now risen to 29,957.
