Fresh quakes jolted southern Turkey on Monday, just two weeks after the deadly twin tremors killed thousands.

A 6.4 and 5.8 magnitude earthquakes hit Turkey’s southeastern Hatay province, the country’s disaster management agency said.

As many as 1,214 people injured in the twin earthquakes

Hatay was one of the 10 provinces hit by twin deadly quakes on February 6 that killed over 41,000 people in Turkey and thousands more in neighbouring Syria.

UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres had stated that the devastating earthquakes that decimated parts of Turkey and Syria are “one of the biggest natural disasters in our times.”
