All public parking spaces across Abu Dhabi will be free of charge to mark Commemoration Day and the country’s 49th National Day, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi has announced.

Motorists in the capital emirate can park for free during the holiday period, starting Tuesday, December 1, 2020, until Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 7:59 am.

ITC urged the public to neither park vehicles in prohibited areas, nor block the traffic flow. It also called upon the public to adhere to the regulations regarding the resident permit parking bays from 9pm to 8am.

Public buses and ferry services across Abu Dhabi will operate according to the same schedule of Fridays and official holidays. Meanwhile, Customer’s Happiness Centres remote working will resume after the holiday on Sunday, December 6, 2020.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that all public parking areas in Dubai, except for multi-level parking, will be for free during the holiday over the same period.

In a similar move, Sharjah City Municipality (SCM) has announces free public parking across the emirate on the occasion of Commemoration Day and the 49th National Day.

Motorists can park their vehicles from December 1, until December 3, 2020. Regular parking fares will resume from December 5, 2020.

This decision, however, excludes parking zones that are subject to parking fees, on all days of the week, inclusive of Fridays and public holidays.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazien, director of Public Parking Department at the SCM, pointed out that the authority will continue to inspect parking lots to detect any misuse of the parking spaces.

The UAE announced a three-day holiday break for public and private sectors to mark the country’s 49th National Day as well as Commemoration Day.
