Flydubai to launch flights to Romania’s Cluj-Napoca in November

The route, which will be operated twice per week, was initially scheduled to begin in March

Flydubai has announced new dates for the launch of flights to the city of Cluj-Napoca in Romania.

The airline will operate twice-weekly flights between Dubai International and Avram Iancu International Airport Cluj starting from November 3, 2021, it announced on Sunday.

Flight FZ 767 will depart Dubai at 9am, arriving in Cluj-Napoca at 12.40pm. The return flight, FZ 768, will take off from the Romanian city at 1.40pm to arrive in Dubai at 8.45pm.

The route, first announced in February, was initially scheduled to begin in March.

Flydubai partner airline Emirates will codeshare on the route.

Return business class fares start from Dhs8,000 and economy class prices begin from Dhs1,600.

With its launch, flydubai will serve the Romanian market with a total of 16 weekly flights. Its current daily service between Dubai and Bucharest is also set to increase to a double daily operation from November.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO at flydubai, said: “We first started operating to Bucharest with four flights a week in 2012. Since then, flydubai has more than tripled its operations to the market as demand has grown for commercial and cargo traffic between Romania and the UAE.

“We look forward to further stimulating travel and trade flows in both directions.”

Jeyhun Efendi, senior vice president, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, added: “The twice-weekly service will also benefit the Romanian expatriate population in the UAE to travel home more easily and offers passengers from the market a more convenient option to visit Dubai during the anticipated Expo 2020 Dubai.”

Cluj-Napoca is the second largest city in Romania and borders Hungary, Moldova and Ukraine. It is also considered to be the unofficial capital of the region of Transylvania.

Passengers booking a flydubai flight to Dubai from September 1 for travel during the event dates will be offered a complimentary one-day ticket to visit Expo 2020 Dubai.

The airline also offers a complimentary global Covid-19 cover for passengers.
