Netflix is expanding its kids and preschool offering with new content, games and interactive features, as it looks to strengthen its position in the family entertainment segment.
The company unveiled a broader slate of series, films and games alongside the launch of “Netflix Playground”, a new interactive platform designed for children aged eight and under. The move reflects Netflix’s strategy to deepen engagement among younger audiences while offering parents greater control over viewing experiences.
John Derderian, vice president of Animation Series, Kids & Family TV at Netflix, said: “We’re building a world where kids can not only watch their favourite stories, they can step inside them and interact with their favourite characters. We’re creating a seamless destination for discovery, learning, and play. Whether it’s reuniting with Hank and the Trash Truck crew for new adventures or making a smoothie with Peppa Pig, watching and playing on Netflix can be the fun and easiest part of every family’s day.”
New interactive platform and global rollout
Netflix Playground, which is included in standard subscriptions, allows children to access an expanding library of games featuring popular characters such as Peppa Pig and Sesame Street.
The platform is currently available in select markets including the US, UK and Australia, with a wider global rollout planned for April 28. The app is designed to function without ads or in-app purchases and supports offline play, positioning it as a complementary offering for mobile-first consumption.
Alongside the platform launch, Netflix confirmed new and returning titles across its kids portfolio. This includes renewals of Trash Truck and The Creature Cases, as well as the introduction of a new musical series, Young MacDonald.
Upcoming releases also include new seasons and episodes of established titles such as CoComelon Lane, Sesame Street and Ms. Rachel, reinforcing the platform’s focus on early childhood education and entertainment.
Focus on parental controls and engagement
Netflix said the expansion is supported by enhanced parental control features, including individual kids profiles, customisable maturity settings and content filtering tools. These are designed to create a curated environment for children while giving parents greater visibility and control.
The company noted that children’s content has become a key driver of engagement on the platform. Between 2023 and 2025, several of the most-watched titles globally were from the kids category, making it one of Netflix’s top-performing genres.
The latest rollout highlights Netflix’s continued investment in interactive and family-focused content, as competition intensifies across streaming platforms for younger audiences.
By combining video, games and educational content within a single ecosystem, Netflix is positioning itself as a broader digital destination for children’s entertainment, learning and play.
