Syed Basar Shueb

Appointed to his current leadership roles in July 2019, Syed Basar Shueb has been instrumental in driving IHC’s transformation into the UAE’s most valuable company, with a market capitalisation reaching approximately $140bn, while establishing the group as one of the world’s fastest-growing and most diversified investment firms. With more than two decades of experience across manufacturing, construction, financial services, and investments, Shueb has built a distinguished track record of strategic expansion, operational excellence, and value creation. Since taking the helm of IHC, he has
led the company’s diversification strategy across multiple high-growth sectors, strengthening its global footprint and enhancing portfolio performance through disciplined capital allocation, strategic investments, and operational synergies.

In October 2025, IHC announced the acquisition of a majority stake in First Women Bank Limited (FWBL) in Pakistan, marking the first privatisation of a bank in Pakistan under a government-to-government framework. The transaction reinforced UAE–Pakistan economic cooperation and aligned with IHC’s strategy of building resilient financial institutions through technology-driven transformation, artificial intelligence integration, and digital modernisation. In 2026, Shueb continued to lead IHC through a period of exceptional financial performance and strategic growth. On June 12, 2026, IHC commenced the first Dhs1.8bn tranche of its approved Dhs5bn share buyback programme, following shareholder approval on March 16. This milestone reflected IHC’s strong financial position and commitment to disciplined capital management. The announcement followed one of the company’s strongest quarters, with Q1 2026 revenue increasing 33.2 per cent year-on-year to Dhs31.4bn and profit after tax rising 98.5 per cent to Dhs8.2bn.

Before joining IHC, Shueb served as group CEO of PAL Group of Companies.
