Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber

Few executives have had a greater influence on the UAE’s economic and energy landscape than Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber. As MD and group CEO of ADNOC, executive chairman of XRG and chairman of Masdar, he sits at the intersection of traditional energy, industrial development and the global transition to lower-carbon technologies. Since leading ADNOC’s transformation from 2016, Dr Al Jaber has overseen the company’s evolution into a diversified and increasingly technology-driven energy enterprise.

Under his leadership, ADNOC has expanded its international footprint, accelerated investments across the energy value chain and embraced artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and competitiveness.

The scale of that growth was evident in 2025, when ADNOC’s six listed companies collectively reported record revenues of Dhs190.1bn, EBITDA of Dhs61.3bn and net profit of Dhs35.8bn. The group also continued to strengthen its position as a global energy investor, with ADNOC, XRG and Masdar together committing more than $85bn to energy-related assets in the United States.

A major milestone came in late 2025 when ADNOC secured an $11bn structured financing facility for the Hail and Ghasha offshore gas development, one of the largest and most ambitious gas projects currently under development worldwide. Dr Al Jaber’s leadership has earned international recognition. In 2025, he was named ICIS CEO of the Year for his role in driving ADNOC’s transformation and downstream expansion through XRG. He also received the Middle East Institute’s Distinguished Global Leadership Award in Washington, DC, recognising his contribution to energy security, economic development and international cooperation.
