Osama Bishai

Osama Bishai is CEO and executive director of Orascom Construction, one of the region’s leading engineering and construction groups. He has been associated with the company’s senior leadership for decades, with market data listing him as CEO and executive director since 1998. Under Bishai, Orascom Construction has built a strong position across infrastructure, industrial, commercial and energy projects in the Middle East, Africa and the US. The company’s 2025 performance showed the scale of its order book: consolidated backlog reached $9bn as of December 2025, while consolidated new awards rose 86.6 per cent year-on-year to $5.6bn.

Recent momentum has also come from energy transition projects. Orascom Construction, in consortium with Aeolus Energy and ENGIE, signed a power purchase agreement in March with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company to develop a 900MW wind farm near Ras Shokeir in the Gulf of Suez.

The company’s Q1 2026 results showed revenue of $1.47bn and highlighted continued activity across its core geographies, even as new awards moderated in some segments. Bishai’s leadership has been defined by disciplined execution, cross-border project delivery and a growing role in renewable energy infrastructure.

As governments across MENA accelerate transport, utilities, energy and industrial projects, Orascom Construction remains one of the contractors most closely linked to the region’s infrastructure buildout.
