Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Abu Dhabi’s economic future through his leadership of Mubadala Investment Company, one of the world’s leading sovereign investment firms. Under his stewardship, Mubadala delivered its strongest performance to date in 2025, with assets under management rising 17 per cent to $385bn (Dhs1.4tn), reflecting the strength of its diversified global portfolio and long-term investment strategy.
The fund deployed a record $39bn in capital during the year while generating $38bn in proceeds, a 27 per cent increase year-on-year. Mubadala also recorded five- and 10-year annualised returns exceeding 10 per cent, cementing its position among the world’s top-performing sovereign investors. Key investments during the year included high-growth companies such as Whoop, Property Finder and Waymo, reinforcing the fund’s focus on technology, innovation and future industries.
The US remains Mubadala’s largest investment market, particularly in the technology sector, and the organisation continues to pursue opportunities aligned with global digital transformation and artificial intelligence. In a notable move reflecting this focus, Al Mubarak announced in 2025 that Mubadala’s investment committee would incorporate an AI-enabled advisory system into its decision-making processes.
Beyond finance, Al Mubarak remains one of the UAE’s most influential business leaders. In 2025, he was awarded the prestigious Abu Dhabi Award by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in recognition of his contribution to Abu Dhabi’s development.
He also serves as chairman of Manchester City FC, overseeing one of the world’s most successful football organisations.
