A distinguished Kuwaiti banking executive and a veteran leader of the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), where he has built an exceptional career spanning more than four decades since joining the institution in 1978. Serving as vice chairman and group CEO, AlSager has played a central role in guiding NBK’s growth, strengthening its market leadership, and advancing its position as one of the region’s most prominent financial institutions.
Under AlSager’s leadership, NBK has continued to reinforce its position as Kuwait’s leading banking group, maintaining a dominant market position with more than 30 per cent of Kuwait’s banking assets and expanding its regional presence across 13 countries. The bank has achieved sustained balance sheet growth, with total assets increasing from KD37.67bn in 2023 to KD45.61bn in 2025 and KD46.10bn in the first quarter of 2026. During the same period, loans, advances, and Islamic financing reached KD27.29bn by Q1 2026.
In 2026, NBK continued to demonstrate strong financial performance under AlSager’s leadership, recording KD331m in net operating income and KD135m in shareholder-attributable net profit in the first quarter. The bank maintained strong asset quality, high liquidity, robust capital ratios, and leading international credit ratings from major agencies, including Moody’s, S&P Global, and Fitch Ratings.
Throughout his tenure, AlSager has overseen NBK’s continued evolution as a trusted financial institution, recognised for its resilience, innovation, brand strength, and contribution to Kuwait’s economic development.
