HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum
Chairman and CEO, Emirates Group
07 July, 2026
For more than four decades, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has been one of the driving forces behind Dubai’s transformation into a global hub for aviation, tourism, trade and finance. As chairman and CEO of Emirates Group, he has overseen the organisation’s rise from a fledgling airline launched in 1985 with two leased aircraft into one of the world’s most successful aviation groups.
The scale of that success was evident in FY 2024–25, when Emirates Group reported record financial results, including pre-tax profits of Dhs22.7bn, revenue of Dhs145.4bn and cash reserves of Dhs53.4bn. The group carried approximately 53.7 million passengers during the year, underlining the strength of Dubai’s position as a leading global aviation gateway.
Growth has continued into FY 2025–26, supported by sustained travel demand, network expansion and ongoing investment in customer experience. Emirates is advancing a significant fleet renewal programme, including the introduction of Airbus A350 aircraft, future Boeing 777-9 deliveries and a major cabin retrofit initiative across its existing fleet.
Beyond aviation, Sheikh Ahmed’s influence extends across several of Dubai’s most strategically important institutions. He serves as chairman of Emirates NBD, Dubai Airports and Dubai Holding, while also playing a key role in the emirate’s long-term development through the Executive Council of Dubai.
As Dubai continues to invest in major infrastructure projects, including the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport, Sheikh Ahmed remains central to shaping the next phase of the city’s economic growth and global connectivity.
