Hamad Ali Al-Khater

Hamad Ali Al-Khater is the group CEO of Qatar Airways, one of the world’s leading international airlines and a cornerstone of Qatar’s global connectivity ambitions.

Appointed in December 2025, he assumed leadership of the carrier at a time when the aviation industry continues to navigate evolving passenger expectations, growing competition, and long-term fleet and network expansion opportunities.

Al-Khater brings a unique blend of aviation, infrastructure, and energy sector expertise to the role.
Prior to joining Qatar Airways, he served as COO of Hamad International Airport, where he played a key role in overseeing operational performance, infrastructure development, passenger experience, and the airport’s continued evolution as a major global aviation hub. His leadership contributed to strengthening the airport’s position among the world’s most highly regarded transit gateways.

Before entering the aviation sector, Al-Khater held senior leadership positions at QatarEnergy, gaining extensive experience in strategic planning, business development, and the management of large-scale infrastructure initiatives. This combination of experience across two of Qatar’s most important industries has equipped him with a broad perspective on operational excellence, stakeholder management, and long-term growth.Under his leadership, Qatar Airways continues to build on its reputation for service excellence and global reach.

Operating a predominantly wide-body fleet, the airline serves more than 160 destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East through its Doha hub.

As the carrier enters its next chapter, Al-Khater is tasked with sustaining Qatar Airways’ position among the world’s premier airlines while supporting the country’s broader economic and tourism ambitions.
