“The Gulf’s transformation over the past three decades reflects deliberate choices rather than favourable circumstances. Sustained investment in infrastructure, institutions, talent and regulation has strengthened competitiveness and created an environment that attracts businesses, investors and people from around the world. The most significant shift has been the evolution of the Gulf’s role in the global economy. It is no longer simply participating in global growth, but increasingly helping to enable it. Today, the region is a major hub for international business and investment, connecting Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the US. Visionary leadership, openness to the world and the ability to adapt have become defining strengths and will continue to shape the Gulf’s next chapter.

The achievement I am most proud of is leading teams and organisations through periods of change while continuing to deliver sustainable outcomes. Some of the most important decisions are made during uncertainty, and helping people navigate those moments with clarity and purpose has been one of the defining experiences of my career.

It has taught me that leadership is less about having all the answers and more about creating the conditions for people to move forward. That means making sound decisions with the information available, communicating transparently and bringing people together around a shared purpose.

Ultimately, what matters is not the absence of challenges, but how people and organisations emerge from them. If difficult periods leave an organisation stronger, a team more resilient and future leaders better equipped to succeed, that is an achievement worth being proud of.

Few regions are as well positioned for the next decade as the Gulf. It sits at the convergence of changing capital flows, evolving trade corridors and a reconfiguration of the global economy. As investment moves towards new growth corridors and supply chains evolve, the Gulf is becoming an increasingly important destination for businesses looking to invest, expand and connect with opportunities across multiple markets.

The challenge will be navigating a more complex world. Geopolitical developments, technological disruption and shifting economic relationships will continue to reshape business. Organisations that invest through uncertainty, adapt to structural change and maintain a long-term perspective will be better equipped to capture the opportunities ahead.”
