In a region pulsing with cultural energy and creative momentum, Mark Abou Jaoude is one of the most influential forces shaping the future of music. By day, he leads Spotify’s music strategy as head of music for MENAP and it’s his deep love for the culture that fuels everything he does.

With over a decade in the industry, Abou Jaoude’s approach is grounded in cultural insight, strategic intuition, and a constant push to break boundaries. “Being exceptional means creating innovative, authentic, and impactful moves that resonate deeply with artists, fans, and communities,” he shares. His career has been shaped by bold decisions and a deep ear for sounds bubbling just beneath the mainstream a reflection of his ability to spot cultural shifts before they emerge.

Abou Jaoude’s process blends instinct with experience. He immerses himself in the region’s grassroots music scenes, stays connected to youth culture, and has a keen understanding of evolving tastes. Yet his vision extends beyond trends. His mission is to help contribute to a more connected, sustainable music ecosystem across the region.

“Music across the region is evolving and growing quickly, with more people discovering and sharing sounds than ever before,” he says. “But with that momentum comes a responsibility to build stronger support systems, invest in education, and create pathways that help artists grow long-term.”

Abou Jaoude’s passion for music remains the driving force behind his creativity, and leadership style.

“My curiosity about music has really inspired my leadership style,” he shares. It’s that curiosity that pushes him to keep learning, seek out working with passionate people, and stay grounded in a mindset of growth and discovery. “I don’t mind getting messy or making mistakes. That’s where growth happens,” he says.

It’s no surprise, that a vehicle like the INFINITI QX80 seamlessly complements his lifestyle. “The first thing I noticed was the sound system, it doesn’t just play music, it completely surrounds you,” he says. “You hear every layer of the song. The vocals are crisp, the bass is clean, and it’s all perfectly tuned to the acoustics of the car.” For Abou Jaoude, it’s not just about listening, it’s about feeling inspired. “You feel like you’re in a live concert. And with the speaker behind the headrest, it becomes even more personal. It’s immersive in the best possible way.”

But the QX80 offers more than just exceptional audio. From its refined interior and intuitive technology to its spacious design, the entire experience aligns with how Abou Jaoude moves through the world. “It’s built with attention to detail, comfortable, thoughtful, and powerful. Whether I’m heading to a strategy session or simply taking a moment to reset, it gives me the space to think and the sound to feel.”

As a creative leader at the intersection of culture, innovation, and technology, Abou Jaoude sees a strong alignment between INFINITI’s values—human, daring, and forward and the qualities today’s creatives need to thrive. “Staying true to yourself, being brave enough to try something new, and always looking ahead that’s what defines both creative impact and strong leadership.”

His advice to future industry leaders is direct and empowering: “Know what you want to achieve. All you need is clarity, consistency, and the courage to take risks.” For Abou Jaoude, success is as much about mindset as it is about talent. He champions a balance between vision and execution, always staying grounded in purpose and committed to work that’s both creatively and culturally meaningful.

Abou Jaoude continues to drive the region’s music industry forward, not by following formulas, but by listening deeply, acting boldly, and always staying in tune with what’s possible.

Abu Dhabi’s sovereign investor Mubadala and the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) have completed the acquisition of an 875-megawatt combined-cycle gas-fired power plant at the Talimarjan Power Complex in Uzbekistan, marking a significant step in the ongoing privatisation of the Central Asian country’s energy sector.

Each entity now holds a 40 per cent stake in the TPP1 gas-fired plant through a newly created project company, Talimarjan Power Plant 1.

Mubadala and TAQA also jointly own 40 per cent of Talimarjan Operations & Maintenance LLC, formed to operate the facility.

The remaining 20 per cent stake in both entities is held by Uzbekistan’s JSC “Talimarjan Issiqlik Elektr Stansiyasi” (TIES).

The transaction supports a broader strategic energy partnership between the governments of the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan, aimed at introducing global expertise into Uzbekistan’s rapidly expanding power market.

The TPP1 plant, a critical component of Uzbekistan’s electricity infrastructure, has a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with JSC “Uzenergosotish” (UES), the successor to the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan.

The plant plays a key role in meeting energy demands in a country experiencing rapid economic and population growth.

Mubadala aims to play a key role in global decarbonisation efforts

“Mubadala is committed to supporting countries across the world to meet their energy needs while reducing carbon emissions. Efficient natural gas-fired powered plants such as TPP1 will play an important part in enabling the transition to cleaner sources of energy,” said Hammad Rahman, head of Asia Pacific infrastructure at Mubadala.

“Uzbekistan is recording a significant growth in demand for power, and Mubadala looks forward to working with TAQA and our local partner TIES to ensure communities and businesses across the country have access to reliable, affordable and secure power supply that supports progress and socioeconomic development,” Rahman added.

Frank Possmeier, chief investment officer, generation at TAQA, said: “TAQA is pleased to collaborate with Mubadala and TIES in acquiring this vital asset that plays a crucial role in Uzbekistan’s journey towards a privatised energy sector. As a low carbon power and water champion, TAQA will leverage its extensive experience and expertise to help Uzbekistan meet its growing energy needs.”

“Our stake in TPP1 demonstrates progress in delivering on our 2030 targets which aim to grow our power generation capacity to 150 GW and strengthens our operation and maintenance capabilities which is also a pivotal element of our strategy,” Possmeier said.

TAQA’s targets for 2030

TAQA’s generation business is targeting 150GW of gross power generation by 2030, with approximately 100 GW expected to come from renewable energy sources via its stake in Masdar.

The acquisition brings foreign direct investment into Uzbekistan’s energy sector and supports local initiatives aimed at social infrastructure development, knowledge sharing, and capacity building.

Finesse, a leading digital transformation and AI solutions provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Securiti, the pioneer of the Data+AI Command Center. The announcement was made during the GISEC event and aims to deliver cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions to businesses across the region.

This partnership combines Finesse’s expertise in digital transformation with Securiti’s advanced technologies for managing sensitive data.

Together, they offer a robust suite of capabilities tailored to address the complex demands of today’s cybersecurity landscape.

Enhancing Cyberhub with AI-driven solutions

Finesse will integrate Securiti’s AI-powered data privacy and security tools into its Cyberhub platform. This integration equips organizations with advanced solutions for protecting sensitive data across both structured and unstructured environments.

Cyberhub already includes features such as a Cognitive Security Operations Center (CSOC), automated incident response, AI-driven Zero Trust architecture, and governance frameworks for generative AI. With the addition of Securiti’s platforms—Data Vault, Data Leakage Protection, and automated privacy compliance—Cyberhub’s offering becomes even more powerful, enabling proactive and scalable cybersecurity strategies.

Leadership perspectives on the partnership

“This partnership addresses critical challenges organizations face in securing sensitive data across distributed environments, especially in the cloud,” said Megha Shastri, Vice President – Enterprise Accounts at Finesse. “Our collaboration with Securiti will give customers continuous visibility and control over their data, reducing risks and ensuring compliance.”

Tahir Latif, Chief Privacy Officer (META) at Securiti, added, “Organisations must balance rapid innovation with strong data security. By automating the discovery, classification, and protection of sensitive data, we provide foundational intelligence that supports downstream security and AI governance.”

Advancing PrivacyOps and Ethical AI

As AI adoption accelerates, ensuring data privacy and ethical governance becomes a top priority. This partnership will enhance PrivacyOps by introducing greater automation and transparency. The integrated solution supports zero-trust frameworks and encourages responsible AI use across enterprise operations.

“Responsible AI governance begins with responsible data governance,” Latif emphasised. “Without deep visibility into data flows, deploying AI becomes risky.”

Paving the way for the future of cybersecurity

The Finesse-Securiti alliance comes at a pivotal moment as businesses face increasing cyber threats and evolving regulatory requirements. Together, these companies aim to create a secure foundation for growth—offering seamless integration of data security, AI governance, and privacy management to organisations in the UAE and beyond.
