The National Centre of Meteorology has issued an orange alert, warning residents to prepare for unstable weather.

Overnight and throughout the morning, light rainfall was recorded in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

Thunderstorms accompanied by intense downpours and lightning were reported in several parts of the country.

The weather conditions prompted warnings and advisories from authorities.

Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to exercise caution and abide by variable speed limits during wet weather.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reminded people to consider the weather conditions when driving and advised them to slow down and use their headlights.

Residents are advised to take precautions and avoid flooded areas for their safety.
