Abu Dhabi scraps quarantine for vaccinated travellers arriving from abroad

The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has scrapped the quarantine requirement for all vaccinated travellers arriving into the emirate from all international destinations.

Effective Sunday, September 5, 2021, vaccinated citizens, residents and visitors coming from green destinations must take a PCR test on arrival without the need to quarantine, and undergo another test on day 6, if staying in the emirate. Those arriving from other destinations must also take a PCR test on arrival without the need to quarantine, and repeat tests on days 4 and 8, Abu Dhabi Government Media Office reported.

Meanwhile, unvaccinated citizens, residents and visitors, including those exempt from vaccination, arriving into Abu Dhabi from green list destinations must take a PCR test on arrival, without the need to quarantine, and repeat PCR tests on days 6 and 9. Those arriving from other destinations must take a PCR test on arrival, quarantine for 10 days and undergo another PCR test on day 9.

All travellers, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, will be required to present a negative PCR test result from within 48 hours of departure, before boarding for Abu Dhabi.

Before travelling, vaccinated tourists must verify their vaccination certificate via the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) website or app. The protocol applies to fully vaccinated tourists who have received a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization and who are aged 16 years and above.

Vaccinated tourists will be allowed in public places limited to those vaccinated in Abu Dhabi per the approved process. They will be able to show their vaccination status either through registering on the Alhosn app or via the official app of their country of residence.

Abu Dhabi revised its green list last month, to now include a total of 55 destinations.

The additions to the green list include: Bhutan, Comoros, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Krgyzstan, Luxembourg, Maldives, Monaco, Norway, Oman, Portugal, Qatar, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
