The UAE announced the detection of 490 new Covid-19 cases on April 27, as a result of extensive screening, entailing an additional 29,984 tests.

Since the outbreak, the country has reported a total of 10,839 cases, including 8,667 active cases and 2,090 people who have now recovered.

Six additional people of different nationalities have died, spiking the country’s Covid-19-related death toll to 82.

Dr. Amna Al Shamsi, the UAE Government spokesperson confirmed that the recovery cases remain close to 20 per cent. She also expressed sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.

“People who follow healthy lifestyle are less prone to infections. We have seen elderly people beating the coronavirus and its complications because of their health practices,” said Dr. Singel, general health advisor for Dubai Police.

According to several studies, obesity was a major risk factor for Covid-19 complications while smoking increased the risk of suffering from serious symptoms for Covid-19 patients, Dr. Singel added.
