GCC Covid-19 update: UAE records 229 infections; Oman registers 16 deaths

UAE
The Ministry of Health and Prevention revealed 229 new Covid-19 cases, detected as a result of 71,322 tests conducted to screen for the virus.
The ministry also recorded 100 recoveries, while the death toll remains unchanged at 364.
The infection count has risen to 64,541.
Oman
The Ministry of Health reported 16 additional deaths across the sultanate in the last 24 hours.
The total number of deaths in Oman due to Covid-19 have now reached 588, Times of Oman reported.
Qatar
The Ministry of Public Health reported a total of 288 cases in the preceding 24 hours.
Kuwait
The Ministry of Health reported 622 new infections and 1 death in the past 24 hours.
The total infection count has risen to 76,827, while the death toll stands at 502.
Bahrain
Out of 9,669 Covid-19 tests carried out on August 16, 405 new cases have been detected.
Meanwhile, 322 recoveries were recorded, increasing the total to 43,128.
