“Dubai’s leadership understood very early that aviation would be an engine of growth, not a by-product of it. It was never treated simply as infrastructure, but as an economic multiplier capable of connecting people, trade, tourism and investment on a global scale. That clarity created close alignment between government, airports, airlines and the wider business community, allowing decisions to be made quickly and with a consistent long-term purpose. Geography helps, but it’s not the story. Vision and delivery are. The opportunity is enormous. The challenge now is growing without adding friction, congestion, and emissions. That means using data, AI and automation to improve flow, building greater resilience into the aviation network and accelerating the production of sustainable aviation fuel. The next decade will be defined not by whether aviation grows, but by how responsibly and effectively we manage that growth.
What excites me most is that the region’s ambition continues to expand. In Dubai, the development of Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International embodies that opportunity. It is not just a bigger airport. It is a different way of moving people and cargo at scale.”
