Emirates plane grounded in India after bird strike

An aircraft operated by Dubai airline Emirates was grounded in India after a bird strike.

Flight EK571 was slightly damaged due to the bird strike which took place when the aircraft was landing at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Monday, according to Indian media reports.

No passenger injuries were reported in the incident.

Emirates confirmed that the Boeing 777 aircraft was grounded in Kolkata pending repair to minor damage caused by the bird strike.

It said passengers on the return flight from Kolkata to Dubai were booked on alternative flights.

The bird strike is the third in just over a month at the Kolkata airport, according to daily Times of India.
