Work on The Emirates Flight Training Academy will start early next year ahead of a targeted 2014 launch.

The AED500 million centre, located at Dubai World Central Airport, will showcase the industry’s most advanced pilot training and be the centre for the Emirates National Cadet Pilot Programme, training up to 400 students at a time.

The facility, subject to regulatory approval, will unite the four key components of pilot training: ground school classrooms; ab initio flight training, ground based simulators; and modern accommodation with recreational facilities that include a gym, football pitch, tennis courts and mosque.

“The aviation industry is growing at an exponential rate and the need for professional pilots is crucial,” said Adel Al Redha, Emirates Executive Vice-President of Engineering and Operations.

Emirates has engaged the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on approval for course syllabus authorities and the airside operations, such as the control tower and runway, will be managed by Dubai Airports and support the Academy.
