Dubai’s Global Village to reopen for 23rd season

Dubai festival park Global Village will reopen for its 23rd season on Tuesday with a new line up and concerts planned.

The launch comes following a fire at the site over the summer that damaged one of the major structures.

The 23rd season will run from October 30 to April 6 and features 27 new pavilions representing 78 countries, with a mixture of music, markets, street food and local handicrafts as well as vendors dressed in authentic costumes.

The pavilion list includes the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Jordan, Pakistan, Europe, Americas, Bosnia and the Balkans, Thailand, Bahrain, Lebanon, Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Russia, Japan, Far East, China, Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey Iran, Yemen and Kuwait.

There will also be two stands dedicated to Emirati culture in the form of the AlSanaa pavilion operated by the Ministry of Human Development and the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation pavilion.

“This season we enhanced the whole park for greater thrills and a refreshed experience. This year we enter a world of exploration, filled with adventures and fun for the whole family where we are hosting even more exciting events and huge international shows to entertain our guests,” said park CEO Bader Anwahi.

Among the highlights this season is an interactive theatre hosting workshops and events for children, six new rides at the Carnaval funfair and a larger video gaming area.

There will also be shows featuring 100 professional performers and 23 Friday night concerts with stars including Jason Derulo, Elissa, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Neha Kakkar, Mohammed Munir and Rabeh Saqer.

Global Village officials said transport in and around the venue had been improved with the building of new bridges over the lakes to support people of determination and deals with authorities to reduce congestion and improve road access to the site, including dedicated public transport lanes.

Global Village will be open for 159 days from 4:00pm to 12:00am from Saturday to Wednesday and 4:00pm to 1:00am on Thursdays, Fridays and public holidays.
