Dubai developer Damac Properties has awarded a Dhs512m ($139.4m) construction contract to China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) to build tower C of its mixed-use Aykon City development.

The new contract covers civil construction works for tower C, the residential tower in the $2bn development, a statement said.

Tower C, known as ‘The Residence’, will have a total built up area of nearly 1.8 million square feet.

The 62-floor tower includes two basement levels, a ground and 10 podium levels, a lifestyle and entertainment level, 48 residential floors and a rooftop.

It will feature studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments. The tower will also feature ‘The Club’, an exclusive residents-only lifestyle and entertainment space with views of the Dubai Water Canal and Safa Park.

In February, CSCEC also awarded a contract worth approximately Dhs600m for the construction of another towers at Aykon City.

“After a thorough tendering process, we have chosen to expand CSCEC’s remit in the Aykon City project beyond Dhs1.1bn, having awarded them the contract to build tower B earlier this year,” said Ali Sajwani, general manager of Operations at Damac Properties.

Launched in 2016, the four million square feet Aykon City development is located on Sheikh Zayed Road,  close to the Dubai Canal development.

It will include an 80-storey all-suites Aykon Hotel and Residences tower, a Damac Maison Serviced Hotel Residences, an apartment tower and an office tower.

It will also have two 30-floor ultra-luxury residential towers with car lifts to each unit and direct views over Dubai Canal and Safa Park.

The project will also feature the Aykon Dare, an adrenaline experience on the 80th floor of the hotel where guests get to walk outside the tower’s roof.

Aykcon City will also comprise a plaza with swimming pools, spa, beach club, cafés, restaurants, yoga and tai-chi areas and a private members club.

At the time of launch, Damac said the completion of the project was slated for 2021.
