Dubai Expo 2020 Win: Schools Closed On Thursday

All schools and educational institutions in Dubai will be closed on Thursday 28 November to celebrate the emirate winning its Expo 2020 bid, according to a mandate by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The announcement was made through Dubai Media Office’s twitter page on Wednesday evening, following Dubai’s successful bid in Paris.

There was no official confirmation of a UAE-wide holiday for private and public sector workers.

Dubai’s charismatic ruler issued a number of tweets lauding Dubai’s efforts in winning the Expo 2020:

“To the world: we renew our promise to astonish you at #Expo2020 Dubai will bring to life our vision: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.

“Our goal is to build a better future for the region’s youth. The UAE will achieve it through collaboration and inspiration at #Expo2020.

“I am proud of our teams who earned this victory for Dubai with two years of hard work, dedication and commitment.

“We congratulate the nation,our president & all people in UAE on Dubai’s winning bid to host the greatest exhibition in the world.”
